Heirloom Highlight: Mickey Inspired First Birthday Invitations

I absolutely adore designing for children. The challenge of bringing together innocent whimsy with a classic aesthetic is something that excites me and gets my creativity flowing. When our dear friends started preparing to celebrate their son's first birthday, they asked if I would design some Mickey Mouse inspired stationery. While I cannot use Mickey himself (copyright issues, which I am always very careful of), I was able to draw on some classic elements that were a nod to the mouse in a very Sincerely, Jackie way. Challenge Mickey Mouse: Accepted.

I went with a type-based design mixing confetti, primary colors, mouse ears, and playful scripts. The invitations were digitally printed on thick felt paper and paired with kraft paper envelopes. I also designed coordinating thank you cards, using the same design elements and also digitally printed on felt paper. I love the cohesive style between the invitations and thank you cards. Who says the kiddies can't have kick-butt stationery for their birthdays? Also, we all know first birthday parties aren't really about the babe-of-honor, let's be real, it's about the parents celebrating their first year of survival. So yea, I guess parents deserve to have kick-butt stationery for their child's first birthday.

These adorable invitations are available for purchase here, as are the thank you cards.
